the berry best

June means strawberries, which makes it the perfect month for assembling Springbok's The Berry Best puzzle:

But while it is pretty super, it has nothing on the strawberries from Jo's plot...

which are amazing on their own or in Frozen Strawberry Milkshakes:

This recipe is from The River Cottage Family Cookbook. So easy (whizz frozen strawberries, a bit of sugar, and whole milk in the blender) yet so luscious and creamy and downright summer-y!

  1. I love having strawberry and frozen banana milkshakes from breakfast on days where there's no time to do anything else!

  3. Heavenly. We are living on strawberries at the moment, milkshakes, tarts, Eton Mess and plain with cream and on top of the porridge. I love this time of year. Our raspberries are almost ripe too although I will have to be quick to get there before the children.

  4. I recommend strawberry ice cream - 200g pureed and sieved strawberries with 50g sugar, and 150 ml of cream (it's best with half clotted cream and half single cream).

  5. Our Spring was very cool this year so the strawberry crops are way behind. You have the best puzzles! D x

  6. Mmm, lovely - all of it, but especially the jigsaw. I long to do some jigsaw, but the wild kitten is still too unruly for that. You always have such beauties though....envious sigh....

  7. Oh yum! That strawberry is perfection, and the shake looks so tasty.

I've been wondering about that cookbook - would a vegetarian find it worth the price??

  8. I have a bowlful of strawberries waiting to be picked later - I can't wait!
I'm living on blueberry smoothies at the moment too. The colour alone is fabulous!
