Knit in Rowan Cashsoft DK, the four cables are finished on the ends with blocks of ribbing:
Despite being a skinny scarf, the cables are thick and warm, so it's perfect for wearing in the Seed Store Cafe:
Unfortunately, my traybake-of-the-week (Gingerbread) sunk in the center--bah. And while a sprinkling of icing sugar helped to hide the dip, I'd be wary of making it again. I think I might try a smaller or Bundt-style ginger cake next time. Or maybe I should just stick with knitting...
Your scarf looks beautiful, great job. Shame to hear about the cake sinking, I constantly have cake problems with the high altitude messing things up.

Bad luck about the cake - it sounds yummy anyway so I wouldn't mind seeing a pic!
ReplyDeleteLove the scarf, it looks great!
ReplyDeleteOh, such a pretty scarf!
ReplyDeleteI made some low fat flapjacks yesterday. They tasted as awful as they sound, and ended up in the bin. Yuk.
I'm in awe of your cables - I've never been brave enough and tend to cling to moss stitch like a well loved toy. A sinking cake = a gooey middle just like a brownie... I've got my eye of one of the bundt cakes in The Hummingbird bakery cookbook.

Your cables are wonderful - you must be very patient. Lovely colour too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful scarf. I'm sure your cake still tasted wonderful!
ReplyDeleteyou must be the most stylish allotmenter in the world xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cables - I can feel the soft warmth from here.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am struck by just what a steal your allotment cakes are. I'm sure nobody else would have noticed the dip.
What a lovely scarf - I do like the ribbed end pieces. I learned today that I can't knit cables and watch the Iraq Inquiry on tv at the same time...
ReplyDeleteThat scarf looks so squidgy and warm - lovely! Sorry to hear the gingerbread sank - bet it still tasted delicious though. Bundt style cake sounds very interesting - I always love the way they look but I've never made one (I don't have a tin, for one thing!).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scarf! It has a lovely texture.
ReplyDeleteThe Gingerbread that sunk in the center and was sprinkled with icing sugar looked like a really cool sculpture by Anish Kapoor!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous scarf! And your sidebar reading list is inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYou are something of a Cable Queen you know, I think of you whenever I see them in patterns! Well done, Kristina.
ReplyDeleteStunning work, Ms. K! And I would have eaten that gingerbread cake with vigor, sinkage or no...
ReplyDeleteAwesome scarf. You always pick the best colors.
ReplyDeletePS-I'm with Lynn on the cake.
Er. Oops. That last comment was mine...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scarf....mmm, I'm tepted to knit one myself! Shame about the gingerbread, but bet it was tasty anyway!

Don't give up on gingerbread!
ReplyDeleteYour scarf looks so silky; I like the way you put the pictures together.
Oooh, lovely scarf! I am so in awe of your knitting skills (and your cake-making skills - too bad about the gingerbread this time, but I bet it was still very yummy!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous scarf! Your cables are so curvy and perfect. I can easily imagine you in that lovely grey mink tone.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the gingerbread cake. I have a recipe from Crabtree & Evelyn's cookbook that does the opposite: it rises beautifully in the middle. And it's a delicious cake too. Make it to give away at Christmas for neighbours, who now request it. Would be happy to send the recipe to you if you like. Just let me know.
